Every expansion has its own merits and flaws, since balancing ten classes for both PvE and PvP content is not an easy feat. It is also psychology that drives people to say that "it used to be better in Classic WoW", just as people will say "it was better in Burning Crusade" when Cataclysm is released.
In the end, it matters little. Whether you enjoy an expansion is based on your own experiences, not those of others. Times change, and the game evolves for all of us in the same way.
