The Oxford movement was a group of nineteenth century theologians within the church of England, most of whom were based at the University of Oxford. Radical in their time, they produced tracts (AKA tractarians) outlining their beliefs and steered the church towards Anglo catholicism. Several of their group became catholics. Much of the ritual seen in the church of England can be traced to this movement.
