There is a HUGE difference between "fairies" and "faeries". Faeries are from folklore and legends in which faeries are evil, mischievous, horrid creatures that are like people except they can easily steal souls, or take children as pets, slaves...or even sacrifices. They do this without the townspeople knowing by putting a glamour on the town except young children can see through this glamour and a person can also do so by having something of the fairy like a sock or the fairies grimoire (spellbook), but stealing the fairies grimoire would be a dangerous task. On the other hand, a fairy is a teeny, tiny, colorful, winged creature which likes to help people, or garden, or blah blah blah. In a nutshell, fairies are nice and friendly (unreal in my opinion) and faeries are dark, evil, unfriendly creatures. Example: Fairy=Tinkerbell, a happy, helpful fairy about the size of a dandelion seed more or less. Faerie=The Banshee (or to the Irish bean sidhe) is a type of faerie (in many legends) who wails when someone is about to die, or when she is going to steal a soul for her own eternal youth. Beware.
