A lion pride is generally a fairly small group of adult females, one (or possibly two) adult males, and a varying number of juveniles. When male cubs reach maturity the alpha male (who is likely their father) drives them away; males driven out of a pride either wander by themselves or possibly in the company of another (usually related) male who has also been driven out.
The alpha male is "in charge" in a kind of "if you do something I don't like I'll beat you up" kind of way. Nomad males who find a pride with a weak alpha male may kill him or drive him away and become the new alpha male for the pride.
There's a tendency for members of the pride to "specialize" ... for example, one lioness may guard the cubs most of the time, while another may hunt most of the time; there's even specialization among the hunters in the sense that one of the females (males in a pride typically don't hunt much, since the females are generally faster and more agile... males tend to be stronger, but that normally isn't an issue) may tend to lurk in hiding and wait for another female to select prey and drive it towards her.

Pride
Pride - White Lion album - was created on 1987-06-21.
A Male Lion does not have to attract a female lioness. When a male lion takes over a pride by ousting the lead male lion of the pride, it automatically wins over the harem of lionesses that are part of the pride. He now heads the pride and has the right to mate and father cubs with the females of the pride. He has that right until another male lion ousts him from his place as the pride leader.
It is largely based on Shakespeare's Hamlet.
