The statute of limitations is different depending on the nature of the claim. For negligence claims, which are the most common, the statute of limitations is two years in New Jersey. If the injured person is under 18 the statute of limitations is tolled until he/she turns 18, so he/she would have until age 20 to file suit. For medical malpractice the statute of limitations is 6 years from when you knew or should have known there was a malpractice. There are too many different causes of action to list all the SOLs here. Suggest you search for a more specific query.
