Is there a test that the mother can take to find out if her baby will have Down syndrome?

In some countries, women can now have a blood test to determine whether or not their child will have Down syndrome.
According to the website of the BBC:
Scientists at Stanford University say they have developed a safer blood test that can tell a women if her unborn baby has Downs syndrome. Current tests include amniocentesis, in which a needle is used to take a sample of fluid from the womb. This can cause some women to miscarry.

This can cause some women to miscarry" So it is possible, but like anything these days, there are risks.
