I don't know if you meant iPhone or iPod. I'm not aware of an application that enables calls from the iPod. However, there is an application for the iPhone that allows you to punch in the number you'd like the person your calling to see. Example... my name is Jen, so I sometimes call my friends from 867.5309... 80's song Jenny...
The ipod touch doesn't have a phone number, but it has a serial number. Go to settings, then to general, and once you get there click about. The serial number is near the bottom.
For iMessage on iPod touch you don't get a number people will contact you using the email you used when you signed up.
Yes! You get to choose a US phone number, and a screen name that makes an email address for you (username@textfree.us). You cannot be charged unless you for some reason give them your credit card info to do an "in-app" purchase.
1) Turn off your IPOD and answer the phone... 2) Greet the caller, and tell them that their call is very important... 3) Put them on hold before they can say anything... 4) Turn on your IPOD...

The police are not going to look for your missing ipod. You may need to call them if it was stolen but even then they are unlikely to search for it. You may need an incident number from them for your insurance company if it is insured.
you dial the number and say hello. LOL
