How young are we talking here? To be honest, there's loads of volunteering work. You can work in charity shops, or go and help out with Brownies etc. You can offer to walk dogs at rescue centres, or what I've been doing for about 2 years now (I'm 16, almost 17) is working at Avon Riding Centre of the disabled, which is pretty satisfying. Hope this helps. x
So they can learn, work is part of their education, as for teenagers and young adults.
Advantages for volunteering is getting working skills in that certain field they want a job in. Also teenagers can put that on their resume and when they are looking for a job it shows they want a job and it is not just for the money. A disadvantage for volunteering for teenagers is they don't make money so they feel it is a waste of their time. A good site to get ideas for youth volenteering is http://www.ehow.com/facts_5545068_voluntary-work-advantages-disadvantages.html
