Nothing because there isn't a fourth season. There is apparently an upcoming (May 2013) spinoff series called Mako Mermaids.
Teenager Zac decides to camp on Mako Island, unaware that three mermaids, Sirena, Nixie and Lyla, who are guardians of the island, are watching him. That night, when the full moon rises, the boy comes into contact with the magic water of the Moon Pool. The following morning, he wakes up discovering he has become a merman with a fish-like tail and the ability to control and manipulate water. His new-found merman abilities will cause problems for the mermaids.

Emma leaves because Clair Holt is leaving to film some movie, Indiana Evans joins the joins the show (she's from home and away) and she's called Bella, she's been a mermaid since she was 8 and she is in a band. A new guy comes called Will played by Luke Mitchell and Bella likes him.

The series cost way too much to continue, I am to understand that they wound up condencing season 2, 3, and 4 all into one final season.
