ARE there Timber rattlers in Maine?

No. Not any more. I have hunted for them from Virgina to Maine (my new home state) for the chance to count them and take pictures, not snakes. Sorry to say I am able to find 30-40 in a morning in CT. of all places, but up here in Maine they seem to have been wiped out.

Yes but they are extremely endangered. They were once common throughout most of the state now they are only in remote portions of the hills and mountains of the western Maine counties. Maine has a history of unrestricted hunting/extermination of predators

Since Maine's natural predators have been so decimated by over-hunting Maine has become infested with deer and rodents. The mountain lions and wolves are safer than deer which cause fatal accidents I hate driving at night because of deer
