eBay or Amazon are good places to get cheap textbooks. You could probably, easily, get a used Calculus text book from either of those places under 80 bucks.

A good theory book/s would be the AMEB master your theory books. They are very good for beginners but you would have to get somebody to check your answers. Try starting with the yellow book.
False. What makes calculus "hard" is the Algebra. If you have a good understanding of Algebra, you will not struggle in calculus, especially considering the fact that the fundamentals of the class- Calculus 1- aren't very difficult to grasp.
I found T.V repair for beginners to be a great book to use. I bought it online and it really helped me.
Calculus will help but there is more to physics than just that.
