Is tomato powder mixture or pure substance?
Tomato powder is a mixture.
According to the 7th grade science book I teach out of - a pure substance can only be an element or a compound. Tomato juice is a mixture of tomato solids and water. It cannot therefore be a pure substance using "science language". However, if I use tomato juice to make chili for example, I certainly want it to be "pure" tomato juice, if you know what I mean.
It is homogeneous. It is NOT heterogeneous, because it looks like it has the same composure thoughout. Although, it is NOT a pure substance because it has different particles within it. It is not made naturally, and it has different particles in it, for example: It can be made with powder and water, which would mean it has powder and water particles, and it cannot be defined as a pure substance.
