Nothing! Just an endangered species gets hunted down for food, you know.
---
I find it wrong.
edit:
There are a number of factors that determine the ethical leanings of whaling:
If killing is immoral is
A) the immorality negated if the killing is done for food/survival (IE hunting)?
B) the immorality negated if the victim is used (food/products)?
Is unsustainable hunting immoral (stealing from the next generation)?
Is modern whaling unsustainable?
Are whales sentient? If so, is killing sentient beings that are nonhuman immoral?
In short whales should be protected, so that our children, and their children can experience their beauty. Besides there are sources of food other than whales, for example cows.
Killing whales, make whales endangered.
Whales are not farmed. Hence, it's not possible to make sure you leave enough alive to breed, and now may species are in danger if extinction. They live a long time. They reproduce slowly, and humans can kill them faster then they can replace those we kill.
Whales are very big, so it's hard to kill them quickly. Many are just harpooned, and then the ship has to pull the tail out of the water, forcing the whale's head under water. The whale then can't breathe, and spends ages trying to get it's blow hole (equivalent of a nose) above the water.
Whales can't drown, so they suffocate, all the time trying to breathe.
There is no no need to hunt them. There are not enough whales to feed the hungry, and perhaps not enough whales to keep them alive as a species, so the food produced is just a Luxury. Some believe this is a luxury humans should do without. There are a few tribes who need whale meat to survive, but they only account for a small number of whales compared to commercial whaling. Commercial whaling is what is "not OK" not "subsistence whaling."
Some people think they are very intelligent.
There are those who claim "it's traditional".
They are right, but then it was once traditional in many cultures to kill a wife who out-lived her husband, and bury them together. Hence, many people find the "traditional" argument to be of zero value. Some traditions need to be abandoned. * hi * joke ---- ---- ---- ----
Whaling is not ok at all. Whaling is dramatically reducing the number of whales left in the world, and they kill them in cruel and horrible ways.
I believe whaling is wrong because it is murdering innocent animals and effecting the circle of life as well.
Yes i am against whaling, due to people killing living speices, i think its toatlly wrong to kill our animals. Even if your killing them for food, let our animals be. America is against whaling. They almost put whales out of the ocean for good when they did do whaling. They wanted their blubber for oil.
Whaling isn't good at all
Commercial Whaling has been banned since 1986 by the International Whaling commission. However, scientific whaling is allowed to strict quotas.
This question is impossible to answer. Since morals are not tangible, to determine what is right or wrong is impossible to do with science. Morals are personal beliefs, not facts.
Whaling stopped in Australia is 1979
Whaling happens in oceans, not on continents.
If you mean whales, they die painfully.
Protesting and intervening with whaling ships
Well scientific whaling as basically when you do scientific research on whales. This is actually one of Japans excuse for whaling but of course their lying they use it for food and oil and all that (STOP WHALING!)
