What happens to Zuko's mother in Avatar The Last Airbender?

Firelord Ozai wanted to be next Firelord instead of Uncle Iroh so he talked to his dad and he hated the idea because Iroh was already depressed that he lost his son in a war so the dad punished Ozai by telling him to kill his own son ,but Zuko's mom came up with an idea to spare his life.

When Fire lord Ozai describes this event he says that she came up with a plan to allow Ozai to take the thrown through Azulons downfall. He also states that she "commited vicious, treasonous acts".

It is heavily implied that she killed Azulon, and then was banished.

It is a question that is constantly still being asked after 4 years since the show ended by fans of the show including me. One of them being the promise, a three part comic series, only part 1 [Jan 2012] and 2 [May 2012] came out recently. But part 3 is coming out in either September or October 2012. Basically, Zuko's father Ozai made Firelord Azulon very angry by suggesting that he make Ozai heir to the throne and take away Iroh's birthright. He said that Iroh had suffered enough, but that Ozai's suffering was just about to begin. According to Azula who was listening to the whole exchange, Firelord Azulon declared that Ozai should know the pain of losing a son, which of course implies that he will kill Zuko.

Zuko's mother comes in while Azula is taunting Zuko with this fact and she takes Azula away to have a "talk".

Later that night, Zuko wakes up to his mother telling him that everything she did, she did for him and to never forget who he is. Then she left.

Azula then informs Zuko that Firelord Azulon died that night.

It is implied that Zuko's mother was involved in Firelord Azulon's death. Perhaps she challenged him to an Agni Kai to try to save her son's life and defeated him. It is never explicitly stated what she did, but whatever it was saved Zuko and earned her own banishment.
Well, here's the story.

Ozai wanted to become the firelord before his brother, Iroh, so he allways hints this to the current firelord, Azulon.

Meanwhile, Iroh is in the middle of taking over Ba Sing Se, and his son, Lu Ten (Zuko and Azula's cousin) dies, and Iroh falls apart.

Azulon hates that Ozai keeps on worrying about being firelord and doesn't understand how Iroh must feel, so he threatens to punish Ozai by taking away his first born son. (Zuko)

Ozai's wife, Ursa defends Zuko and pleads with Azulon to forgive Ozai, so for these rash actions, she is banished.

She wakes zuko up in the middle of the night to tell him that she was banished, but doesn't say that at all. She does say:

"Zuko, my love, listen to me, no matter what happens, never forget who you are." and leaves. From then on, Zuko thinks she is dead. But in the last episode of Book 3: Fire, when Ozai is in prison, he goes to ask where she is, because at some point in the series his uncle, Iroh tells him that she was banished, not killed.

Fast forward to the gang in ba sing se with zuko serving tea, his uncle, and the rest of the crew, but no mention of his mother.
