This belief is held by most Christians, and accords with Jesus' prayer for us in John 17.

11. And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we [are].

So Jesus was and is one with God, who is our Saviour, as Mary said in Luke 1-47. "And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour."

But Jesus saves us from our sins!
