1. Monotremes - The most primitive type of a living mammal. They lay eggs and have a single opening for reproduction and elimination of wastes. The females have no teats, but provide milk directly through the skin to their young.
2. Marsupials - Mammals that give birth to relatively undeveloped young who still continues to develope outside of their mother's body attached to one of her nipples. Most of thse mammals have longer hindlegs than forelimbs, and the females usually pouches in which they carry their young.
3. Placental - The corresponding organ or part in certain mammals.
