The process is called cell division or mitosis.
The cell replicates its DNA (interphase), then the long DNA strings (chromatine) condense into bundles called chromosomes and the nuclear membrane breaks down (prophase). The chromosomes align in the center of the cell while "strings" (microtubules) are formed from centrioles at the cell's poles towards the chromosomes (metaphase).
The strings attach to the chromosomes and pull them towards opposite sides of the cell (anaphase - remember, they got duplicated in the interphase).
The chromosomes decondense back to chromatine and around each of the chromosome sets new nuclear membranes are built (telophase).
Mitosis ends here, i.e. the next interphase begins with replication of the DNA.
Cell division is finished as soon as the cell membrane constricts in the middle of the cell and seperates the two new cells.

∙ 10y agoMost cells in the body divide by a process called mitosis where a parent cell divides to create two genetically identical daughter cells. There is another process that is found only in sex cells called meiosis where a single parent cell divides to create four genetically distinct daughter cells.

They undergo the process of meiosis becasue to lay many eggs as they do, the must split/duplicate.
Meiosis divides twice since it is trying to duplicate the cells to create two new daughter cells for the creation process in species. It is the opposite of mitosis.
In the process of meiosis the cells divide twice. When it is all done the resulting amount is 4 new cells!
A stem cell can develop into other types of cells.
There are many cells that loose their capability to divide after certain period of time ( a phenomenon known as replicative senescence in molecular biology). These cells are differentiated and are accustomed to the functions to which they are destined. Most of the cells in the animals are not able to divide, the best examples being neurons and cardiac cells.
Mitosis.
Mitosis
Germ cells use a similar, but not identical, process to divide known as meiosis. Many adult cells do not divide at all under normal conditions, such as neurons and red blood cells.
If cells do not divide properly, then many problems can occur, cancer cells for example.
Trillions and trillions...... Cells grow and divide everyday. but they also die that's why you don't grow every day too

double what the person already had if mitosis is when cells divide into two cells
