The way you could get to heaven in those times was to always go to church. if you were rich enough you could buy your self to heaven e.g. leaving money for the church and donating to the poor and unwell. In the several branches of the Christian church (Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox and Coptic Church( the directions to heaven were similar:
- attend church services frequently (up to 3 times a day on Sundays).
- buying a relic
- becoming a monk or a nun

You would have to run your life in accordance with the will of Allah.
Others
Vikings would have to die in battle to get to heaven for an afterlife of drinking and "fun" battles. Death not in battle would condemn you to an afterlife of grey boredom.

∙ 13y agoWell according to the church you had to pay them money to buy your way to heaven and if you didn't , they could excommunicate you. Excommunicate means to throw you out of the entire manor/village. But the Church was being greedy and they were wrong because in The Bible, it said that it's easier for the poor to go to heaven than the rich and that you go to heaven if you are a good person. So some people believed the church. Some of those who didn't believe the Church either left the place to live in small towns or some followed Martin Luther and created Protestants. So if you believed the church, then you pay money to get to heaven. If you didn't then you would be a good person and get to heaven. no one really knew how exactly.

Heaven in medieval times?
The medieval concept of Heaven is much as the modern concept is. The Church has not changed its teachings, and there is really no new information. It is and has been viewed as a place for the departed spirits of good people, who worship God in an attitude of bliss. I think even the harps are included in the medieval ideas on the subject.
