First of all you cannot separate mixtures into compounds, you have to chemically change them by either heating them or other forms of changes.

Iron and sulphur can be burned and form Iron-Sulphite, the compound would not be magnetic because it has lost some properties.

Indentify the elements compounds or mixtures?

Elements consist of only one kind of atom (i.e. carbon or Phosphorus). Compounds are made of two or more different elements that are chemically bound together (i.e. carbon + oxygen = carbon dioxide, a compound). Mixtures are similar to compounds, but they are not chemically bound together and can be physically separated or filtered (i.e. sand and water).

What mixtures get separated?

As a general rule, mixtures of nonpolar and polar materials, e.g. oil and water, will separate if they aren't assisted by an emulsifier of some kind (e.g. soap). Heterogeneous mixtures (e.g. salad, soup) are also of course separated by their very nature.

What kind of compounds is sugarcane?

Sugarcane is not a compound, it's a mixture, because compounds are joined by chemical reactions and mixtures aren't, and sugarcane is not joined by chemical reactions, making it not a compound, but a mixture. Besides, it's a plant.

Why isn't every kind of matter an element?

State of matter: solid, liquid, gas, plasma, etc. Chemical entities: elements, compounds (containing two or more elements), mixtures (two or more compounds). But an element or compound can be in a solid, liquid, gas phase, etc.
