Remington did not make a model 301, a model 310 which started as an experimental 572 (pump) in 32 RF shot and later turned into a break open made in (I believe) Brazil.
They also made a model 31 shotgun from 1931 to 1949 but that's as close to 301 as I can get....

Model 301 is unfamiliar. No record is found with that number. There is however a Winchester model 101, and it was made in the Pigeon Grade. The model 101 is an Over/under design and was made in several different configurations.
