You can try unscrewing the gear lever case putting some oil in there and try to losen it.
Additionally: FIRST Check to assure that brake lamps are working when the pedal is pressed. If not, replace the brake lamp fuse or repair the problem with the brake lamp switch. For Safety the brake lamp switch is tied into a shift lock on most modern autos preventing the auto being placed into gear unless the brakes are applied.
