∙ 13y agoLet's think about it. This extraction makes use of the reactivity of carbon. Since this is a displacement reaction, all metals which are less reactive than Carbon can be extracted by this method. Examples include Iron, Manganese, Copper.

∙ 11y agoThis is a huge question and can not be given a simple answer. Metals are very useful. Ores are naturally occurring rocks that contain metal or metal compounds in sufficient amounts to make it worthwhile extracting them. The method used to extract a given metal from its ore depends upon the reactivity of the metal and so how stable the ore is. Each metal requires a different extraction technique and purification etc.
The chemistry and technique for iron is different from aluminum and they are both different again than for titanium. The basic principle is to mine the ore and transport it to a processing facility. The ore is then crushed to make it easier to handle. Some impurities are often removed at this stage.
Processing may now take place which often uses other chemical and/or heat to extract the metal which is usually purified and then classified and packed. Very reactive metals are extracted using electricity, while less reactive metals are extracted by reduction with carbon. This process varies from metal to metal. Gold is one of the easiest as it i usually uncombined in nature.
