Any number of essential oils have been used medicinally for centuries. However, not all of them are suitable for internal use, nor should they be used undiluted on the skin.

Lavender oil is a great all around medicinal oil, it is gentle enough to be used with babies, children and the infirm. It is antiseptic, has a soothing scent, and promotes relaxation. Lavender can cause allergic reactions in some people so do be careful with it.

Tea tree oil is a current favourite and is again something that can be used by a wide variety of people. It is antiseptic, and used in the treatment of acne. This one has a strong scent and some people do not like it, also, like most oils, there are those who may be allergic to it, so use this carefully.

Clary Sage is an oil that should be diluted, but is in use for the treatment of depression and to relieve some of the symptoms of menopause. Like all oils, some people are allergic to this one so be careful in its use.
