The blood vessel that carries blood from the upper extremities to the heart is the superior vena cava and the vessel that carries blood from the lower extremities to the heart is the inferior vena cava. In general, it's called the vena cava.
Superior vena cava is for supplying upper limbs and head and inferior vena cava for the rest except heart which has it's own supply via coronary system.
The great vessels that are involved in transporting blood around the body are the aorta, the superior vena cava and the inferior vena cava.
superior vena cava and inferior vena cava
vena cava
veins and arteries
The inferior vena cava brings blood from the lower half of the body; and the superior vena cava brings blood from the upper half. They join at the right atrium of the heart.
The inferior vena cava brings blood from the lower half of the body; and the superior vena cava brings blood from the upper half. They join at the right atrium of the heart.

capillaries are the smallest blood vessels that enable the exchange of water, oxygen, carbon dioxide, and waste substances between blood and surrounding tissues, but do not carry blood to and from any part of the body. Arteries(also called blood vessels) carry oxyenated blood from the heart to the body and veins( also called blood vessels) carry deoxygenated blood from the capillaries to the heart.

Carry blood away from the heart are called arteries, and towards called veins. The MAJOR arteries towards the upper body are the branches of ascending aorta which are subclavian and carotid arteries, wheras, towards the lower body are branches of the descending aorta which are mesenteric and iliac arteries. Veins whereas are the superior vena cava from the upper and inferior vena cava from the lower body. Keep in mind that there are numerous vessels in the body eventually branching away and back and that it travels from the heart-arteries-veins-heart.
