Yankees and Federals
Northerners were most pleased that California was admitted as a free state. The south was pleased that the fugitive slave act REQUIRED assistance in capturing runaway slaves or face imprisonment.
The main opposition came from Copperheads, who were Southern sympathizers. Irish Catholics opposed the war due to the draft.
White Southerners were delighted - it meant that slavery was legal in every state of the Union. Those white Northerners who were Abolitionists were horrified, on account of the same verdict. Other white Northerners were simply alarmed that it was driving the two sides further apart, and bringing war closer. African-Americans were, of course, not being consulted much. Some of them may have wondered why Scott did not claim his freedom earlier, when it would have been granted automatically.
One of the obvious ones, and this one lasted a long time, maybe even today is the Southerners gaining a hatred of the Northerners. Union troops occupying the south, pissed many people off Loss of slaves, production somewhat plummeted, due to Southerners needing to pay workers now. Freed slaves moving to the North hoping to find better employment, this posed problems for the northerners, who felt threatened by the influx of freed slaves, and felt that they might lose their jobs to the freed slaves. There are others, but I'm not American, so I can't tell you intimate details.

What were their crimes? How does this classification affect the fate of the two boys? Why did China want to reeducate people like the narrator and Luo?
This is used when two or more people have a series of similar events in their lives. Eg. When two friends fail inthe same subject in the same exam, etc.
It would be helpful if you could say just a little about the two people. For example, did one survive and the other perish? What age and gender are they? Is there anything ironic about their fate - and so on?
It was fate that the two would meet in such a big city.Fate is not what drives men to their ruin, but rather their own choices. The fate of the treasure ship was unknown for more than three hundred years.

The tone of "The Lucky One" can be described as romantic, hopeful, and sentimental. It evokes feelings of nostalgia and a belief in fate bringing two people together.
