Of the five men who died, three died immediately; and of these it is impossible to say which died first. The three were Samuel Gray, James Caldwell, and Crispus Atticus.
Two other men wounded in the shooting and later died; Samuel Maverick died a few hours later, and Patrick Carr died two weeks after the shooting.

The Boston Massacre, known as the Incident on King Street by the British, was an incident on March 5, 1770, in which British Army soldiers killed five civilian men and injured six others. It was the culmination of tensions in the American colonies that had been growing since Royal troops first appeared in Massachusetts in October 1768 to enforce the heavy tax burden imposed by the Townshend Acts.
