The portuguese seafaring explorations were very sucessfull. We discovered land and riches, developed, stole riches and explored the natives (regretably) sending them off as slaves. Sadly standard business at the time. Then the Dutch and the English got jealous and began pirating us and we began to lose interest. We tried to unite Angola and Mozambique and England threatened us and we lost further interest. Then these countries demanded their independence, we fought those we could and gave up when the fascist government toppled. Not a moment too soon.
Cabza de Vaca's exploration was not a success because his ship wreaked in the Gulf of Mexico.
Juan Cabrillo's expedition, undertaken in 1542, is often considered a partial success. While he did not find the fabled Strait of Anián or substantial gold, he made significant contributions to the exploration of the California coast and mapped key areas. His journey increased European knowledge of the Pacific Northwest and laid the groundwork for future Spanish exploration. Ultimately, Cabrillo's expedition expanded geographical understanding, despite not achieving all its intended goals.

The Portuguese faced several challenges during their first voyage, including navigational difficulties, harsh weather conditions, and limited understanding of the local cultures and trade practices. Additionally, they encountered resistance from indigenous populations and competition from other European powers. Their initial focus on establishing trade routes rather than building strong alliances hindered their ability to secure lasting success in the regions they explored. These factors collectively contributed to a less successful outcome in their early maritime endeavors.
It didn't. Portugal was gifted with Macau and Taiwan by the Chinese government in exchange for the Portuguese Navy wiping out Japanese pirates from the Sea of China. Spain was largely unsuccessful in trading with China.

They also established trade routes around Africa, leading to the discovery of new territories and resources. Additionally, the Portuguese implemented a sponsorship system where explorers were funded by the crown or private investors, contributing to the success of their expeditions.

Not really, but his greatest success was convincing others that he was. He wrote books about his exploring and stated he had discovered North America, but it has been proven he didn't. So, he was good at spinning his story, but not in his deeds.
