I found this on the net: it helped me somewhat: cj INSTRUCTIONS FOR DOING ACUPRESSURE POINTS - Asthmahttp://www.dishant.com/Acupressure/acu/Asthma/asthma.html 1. Press the point (with strong pressure until you begin to feel the pain) and count to 10-12 seconds. Then release the pressure for 1 second. Press again on the same point and count 10-12 seconds once again. Release pressure once again. Repeat this one more time. So, basically, each point receives a total pressure of about 35 seconds with 1 second breaks after every 10-12 seconds. 2. Always use the thumb to press the points. It is important that the thumb faces the body i.e. the pressure is directed towards the body. 3. The points are located on both arm/legs in symmetry. So, always do the points on both sides of the body. 4. Points should be done in the sequence that is written out for you by your acupressurist. For example, if a patient is given the follow sequence - 7 circulation, 8 inner-outer, 1 blood pressure (pumping) and 4 hormones, is means that the patient should do the 7 circulation points on both arms first, then 8 inner-outer points (on both arms) and so on. 5 . You should not eat or drink anything (not even water) 1/2 hour before/after doing the points. 6. Each sequence of points should be done REGULARLY 3 times/day with at least 3 hour gaps in between (emergencies are an exception). So, it would be perfect to do the points once in the morning, then in the afternoon, and finally at night. Irregularity in doing the points or doing the points only once or twice will not help at all. All your efforts will be in vain. 7. For those who have to do Z-points: In case of an emergency, do the Z-points every 10-15 minutes until the problem subsides. Then, follow the regular sequence of points. (You do not have to worry about the 1/2 hour gap of eating and drinking when you are doing the Z-points). Check with your acupressurist if you feel like you are not doing the points correctly. If the acupressurist marks the points for you on your arms/legs, do not erase them or if they get light, make sure you darken them again. Keep the marks until you know exactly where each point is. Dishant Shah Please do not use these points before contacting me or your acupressurist Point Sequence for Asthma (Root cause: Lungs) Hands

Move your finger towards your thumb to feel the correct point. This point is used to treat cough, asthma and shortness of breath. Step2 Move on to the next point, which is located on the elbow joint inside of the biceps tendon. This point is used to treat stuffiness in the chest as well as anxiety and upset stomach. Step3 Slide your finger below the clavicle from the sternum to your shoulder until you fall into a depression. Massaging this point will give you relief from cough, wheezing and asthma. Step4 Find the next point by sliding your finger down slightly from the previous point. This can also be used to treat cough, wheezing and asthma. Step5 Locate the bottom of your sternum and slide your finger up until your finger fall into a depression that is midway between your nipples. Asthma is a condition and an attack which can strike at any time. LU 5 (lung 5) or in Chinese, Foot Marsh, is located on the inner arm at the crease of the elbow. The lung line or meridian (or channel) runs along the arm where the skin changes color and texture. The point at your elbow crease in LU 5. The Japanese LU 5 point is about an inch down on the lower arm. Press on this point often to strengthen the lungs. Nose Point Acupressure Point For Cold

There are several points that can be used to relieve the annoying symptoms of a stuffy nose. This particular point is located on each side of the base of the nose, and it is specific when your nasal passages are blocked. If you have sinus-related problems, there are other points to use to decongest and drain. This point for nasal passage opening is called LI 20 (Large Intestine 20) or in Chinese, Welcome Perfume or Welcome Fragrance. To breathe more clearly, apply even pressure to both sides of the nose at this point.

Sore Throat Point Acupressure Point For Sore Throat

The point on the outside of your thumb by the base of the nail is called LU 11 (Lung 11). In Chinese, it is called Lesser Merchant. This point is wonderful for nipping a cold in the bud. At the first sign of a sore throat, use your other fingernail, a toothpick or a pencil eraser to apply pressure. This helps to strengthen your respiratory system and give it a boost of strength to ward of the invading cold. Don't wait for too long. Once the cold has taken hold, it will be too late and other points and therapies might well be necessary. This point is also helpful for asthma and congestion. Acupressure Point For Anxiety

This is a great point for easing anxiety. In the Western numbered system, it is call P6 or Pericardium 6 (also known as Heat Constrictor 6 or Heart Protector 6). In Chinese, the point is called Inner Gate. This point is located 2-3 finger's width from the crease of the wrist and in the center on both wrists. Pressing on this point brings down "Stuck" energy around the diaphragm that results in the feeling of nervousness or anxiety. It is not only useful for anxiety but also nausea, morning sickness, motion sickness, headaches, insomnia and dizziness.

Acupressure Point For Voice Strain

Voice Strain Point Two different acu-points can be used. They are as easy to reach as your hands.

TW 3 (Triple Warmer 3) or Middle Island, is located on the back of the hand between the 4th and 5th metacarpal bones. First, swallow to get a clear sense of how your throat feels, then press firmly on the point with your thumb. Now swallow again. If this is the correct point your throat should feel better instantly. If you still find your throat to be sore, then proceed to the next point.

TW 3

This, next point doesn't have a formal number in Oriental Medicine. If TW 3 didn't help your throat then it may not be simple voice strain, you may also be fighting an infection. Try the point pictured below. It is on the crease between the middle finger and the palm. Use a BLUNTED toothpick. Tap a toothpick (mini-point stimulators given away at every Chinese restaurant) several times on a hard surface. You want to use the blunt end to stimulate the point so as not to break the skin. Try swallowing again.

Throat Point

If neither of these points help your throat, it is most likely that your immune system is depressed. Take some time to relax your body and your voice. Try drinking some Throat Coat Tea (available from Traditional Medicinals and made with Slippery Elm Bark-No, it really is good), or perhaps, some cold season tea. Give yourself some R and R and definitely avoid all dairy products. Milk products create more phlegm and you will only make your throat worse by needing to clear it often. Also the dairy will make the PH in your throat more acidic and in the long run more irritated. On the palm side of the hand in the center of the pad at the base of the thumb. Dry Cough Lobelia Lobelia is the first medicine to think of when wheezing is accompanied by short, dry coughs. Shortness of breath is brought on by exposure to cold air and any exertion. The chest is tight and constricted. Cuprum metallicum Cuprum is characterized by spasms, spasmodic coughing and spasmodic vomiting. These children feel a painful constriction of the chest. Their cough is better from drinking cold water and worse in hot weather. Kali carbonicum During a Kali-carb attack, children must sit up and lean forward in order to breathe more easily. They wake characteristically at 2-3 AM with a dry cough and wheezing. They must have open air when an attack occurs, but their cough is often brought on by cold weather. Sambucus Sudden, suffocative, gasping spells of asthma that resemble croup in their intensity. The child awakes nearly suffocated, gasping for air until the attack passes. She lies down afterwards only to awaken again with the same symptoms. Sambucus fits these sudden, dramatic attacks, usually at night, with a hollow dry cough, which is worse lying down and worse in cold air. Loose Cough Ipecacuanha Ipecac corresponds to more childhood asthma symptoms than any other medicine. Racking, rattling coughs with rumbling in chest and wheezing. Coughing with every breath, accompanied by nausea, gagging, or vomiting. Attacks occur in warm or damp weather, and symptoms are better in the open. air. Mucus collects in the throat or chest, causing a loose gagging cough. Loud bubbling noises from the congestion can be heard in the chest on breathing. Antimonium tartaricum So much mucus in the chest, and very little is expectorated. Children seem weak and wheezy. This is a worrisome sounding cough. These children seem sicker than those who need Ipecac, though the Ipecac children may have more rumbling chest sounds. Children must sit up to breathe. The chest is rattly and the cough is loose, worse in the evening and at night. Acupressure Parents will find that massaging specific points on their child's body during asthmatic episodes will help relieve cough, induce relaxation, and decrease wheezing. The techniques fall into two categories, pressing on acupuncture points and massage of acupuncture channels. Both techniques are simple, straightforward, and require no training. There are six important acupressure points for the relief of asthma symptoms. With your child lying down, apply finger pressure to the points on both sides of the body simultaneously if possible. Hold for about two minutes, or hold for ten seconds, release for ten seconds, and repeat ten times. The points may be tender. Apply pressure without causing undue pain. Lung 1 opens blocked energy in the lungs. Located on either side of the chest in the soft space just under the lateral head of the clavicle (collarbone). CV 17 clears the lungs and disperses congestion. Located in the center of the chest at the level of the nipples. Pericardium 6 opens the chest. Located in the center of the palmar surface of the forearm, ½ inch medial to the crease of the wrist. Ding chuan is a specific point to relieve asthma. Located on the back, just above and lateral to the most prominent vertebra at the base of the neck (at C7). Liver 3 is a calming point that brings energy down out of the chest. Located on the back of the foot in the space one inch up from the junction of the first and second toes. Stomach 40 relieves congestion. Located ½ inch lateral to the shinbone at a level half the distance between the prominent bones at the knee and ankle Tui na pediatric massage is soothing and effective for symptom relief in infants and children up to 12 years old. It involves repetitive massage, 100-500 strokes at a time repeated two to three times per day. For massage of the limbs, do one side and then the other. Young children respond especially well to tui na. Ring finger - Rub the palmar surface of the ring finger in a straight line from the second knuckle to the fingertip. Rub in one direction only from knuckle to fingertip. Chest - With thumbs together at the midpoint of the chest between the nipples (CV 17) and hands wrapped around the chest, push the thumbs out towards the nipples. Back - With thumbs on the medial border of the scapulae and hands wrapped around the back, push apart the curves of the scapulae with thumbs moving in one direction from above to below. Forearm - Use only if the child does not have a fever. Rub along the lateral edge (thumb side) of the long bone of the forearm (radius) in one direction from only from the wrist to the elbow.
