The cooling system on you car's engine is pressurized to reduce the evaporation temperature of the fluid, to make the system more efficient. If you open the radiator cap when the engine is hot, the fluid sprays out as the pressure equalizes. This can burn the s##t out of you, seriously. It's dangerous and wasteful of the coolant fluid. WAIT, an hour or so, to let the engine and readiator cool off, before taking off the cap. Then you can add water/coolant mixture. DO NOT PUT ONLY WATER into the system! Use a mixture of coolant and water, or straight coolant from the bottle.
radiator fluid
there is supposed to be water in the radiator. your radiator is supposed to be evenly mix 50/50 with radiator fluid and water, preferably distilled water.
If it is a water-filled or oil-filled radiator, it will leak fluid.
by filling radiator or reservoir according to specs, no tap water, which contains dissolved calcium and other contaminants; and changing fluid at least by prescribed intervals.
After you install your water pump, fill with radiator fluid. Then start your engine with the radiator cap off. run your engine until it warms up. You will see bubbles forming in your radiator. When the level rises and stops bubbling out, install the cap back on. Dont fill your radiator if your car is on a downhill, you will prevent air from purging out.
Remove the bottom radiator hose. Stick a hose in the top of the radiator. Turn the water on. Allow the water to run through the radiator and out the bottom of the radiator.
What I do is put half antifreeze and half water in to the radiator and keep putting more radiator fluid tell you see it in the neck of the radiator and put some radiator fluid in the coolant reservoir tank too.
The radiator fan may be smoking on your Mustang if there is a radiator leak. You will need to check the radiator to make sure there is enough water and fluid inside.
do it yourself, a socket set, screwdriver, and pliers are all the tools you need. all it should cost is the price of the radiator, around 120.00, and radiator fluid. dont forget to mix your radiator fluid with distilled water, not tap water.
Water can be entered into the radiator in a Toyota Celica by way of the radiator cap. It is no longer recommended to use plain water in a radiator. The proper fluid to use on most vehicles is antifreeze that is mixed at least to a 50/50 blend.
You should never use transmission fluid in a radiator. You can use water without antifreeze in a radiator, but if the engine gets below 32 F (0 C) the water will freeze and severely damage the engine.
Milky means that there is water in the fluid. You need to have the radiator checked for an internal leak.
