Lift the MPV up by the body jack points. Remove wheel. Remove axle nut, if you have a 1/2 impact gun it will be easier. Remove ABS line going into the knuckle (small 10mm head bolt) The ABS sensor may need to be carefully rocked back and forth to get it out. Be careful not to break it. Remove brake caliper and support it by using a coat hanger to keep the brake line from taking all the weight of it. (the brake line can get damaged internally) Remove Rotor. Remove the bottom strut bolts (2 of them). Push the axle out of the hub, you might need to help it with a hammer. You should have enough room to get the axle out without removing the lower balljoint. If you have trouble, then remove the tie rod end and/or the lower balljoint. Take a prybar and pop the inner axle joint out of the transmission. Good luck.
The 2000 Ford Explorer owners manual shows : Motorcraft SAE 80 W - 90 Premium Rear Axle Lubricant for the FRONT axle
There is one main thing you will need to know when removing CV axle from the transmission on a 1995 Mazda 626 on the drivers side. You will need to know that the circlip is what holds the axle. If you unclip that the axle will fall right out of the transmission.
The 2000 Ram had u joints, not cv joints at the front axle.
