This is the method I used on my 2001 Suburban. It should work on similar suburban designs (2000-2006, but I have not verified that.)
Open the hood, then remove the headlight. To remove the headlight, there are 2 "L" shaped brackets, one on the left, one on the right. Rotate them both toward the front of the car, then pick them straight up and the headlight will come out. Now, you have to fiddle with the daytime running light socket a bit. You have to twist it to the right and it will pop out. However, to twist it, there is a plastic piece on it you have to depress to get it out of the way of a 'stop' that protrudes from the daytime running light housing. Take out the old bulb, put in the new one, slide the bulb back in at the angle you took it out, then twist it back and it will snap in place. (The snap is the sound of that plastic piece hitting the gray 'stop'.) Put the headlight back in and you're done.

Here is another method: I have had Silverado's and Suburban's from 2000 thru 2005. Next to the radiator on either side is a soft, pliable rubber covering that hides the DRLs. It is easily moved exposing the DRL socket from behind. I use a long screwdriver to depress the locking tab. (This can be easily done from the top looking down) Once the locking tab is depressed, easy pressure on the "lefty loosey" side of the light socket will quickly pop the light socket out. I have also discovered the insertion of the 3157 or 3357's bulb DOES make a difference. If inserted backwards, DRLs may not work. Just did it on my Silverado. Flip the bulb the other way, everything works fine.
