It depends on whether or not the car has a digital readout. If it has a digital display, chances are it would be a wiring problem, somewhere right behind the odometer. If it has an analog display, since the spedometer still works, chances are the odometer itself (the display) has gone bad--like a little gear in there or something. This is one of the simplest odometer problems to fix; just replace the display piece. If the spedometer wasn't working it would be a whole different story--probably a faulty cable.
Push in the trip odometer button and hold down. The digital display will change from KM to MPH. You may have to hold the button down for about 15 seconds.
Under the speedometer. Push the trip meter reset button and the display will change from outside temperature to the odometer.
To change the digital display from mph to kph on a Ford Escape you push the small reset button near the odometer. This will change your mileage statistics from mph to kph.
how do I change from kilometers to miles on the odometer. I have tried the reset on 2009 Ford Explorer

It is not clear from your question whether the odometer is mechanical or digital. If it is digital, this is likely the beginning symptoms of a cracked solder joint on the circuit board that provides power and mileage information to the odometer display. Hi, Can you clarify what is exactly wrong with the odometer? Those W210 cars have a sealed digital odometer. If one part of the display is faulty, you will need to have the whole unit replaced. Regards Mike S.
The 2003 Ford Expedition is one of many Ford vehicles that are prone to problems with the digital odometer display. Symptoms of the common intermittent odometer problem include a dim or completely blank display. There is a complete discussion of the intermittent odometer problem at http://www.odometer-repair.com .
Sit in the driver's seat. Put your seat belt on. With the key in the off position, press and hold in the odometer reset button. Turn the key one click (keep holding the odometer reset button in). Very shortly afterwards you will get a "RESET" (or similar) display. Release the odometer reset button. The display "RESET" will blink. While blinking press the odometer reset button again. That should do it.
If you turn the key on and off three times in ten seconds, the system does a self check and flashes codes in the odometer. Done means it is done displaying codes, or there are no codes to display.
Because your odometer, or something connecting the odometer to the battery, is broken. Most likely the odometer is the problem if the rest of your dashboard is working fine.
