Do the Air Force have guards?

The U.S. Air force has a AFSC (Air force speciality code) for nearly every job imaginable. The AFSC for our "guards" is 3P0X1 Security Forces. They handle all manner of operations like protecting the border of military bases, patroling bases, security for missions, and yes guarding things like Air craft and buildings.

Your a women who has a family who is going to join the air force should you go into security forces or change your career path?

Security Forces personnel deploy at least 6 months out of each year on average. I would recommend x-ray technician or another medical AFSC. Medical AFSC's typically deploy later in their careers- if at all- although all Air Force Personnel are subject to deployment of any length, at any time. Cops do deploy a lot, though. And work pretty long hours, even when at home station. Plenty of cops have families, of course, and make family and military lives work. But Security Forces is challenging, for anyone with a family.

What does a o prefix in front of an air force afsc mean?

"A" stands for Officer and "O" stands for Officer Prefix. So an "O" prefix in front of an Air Force AFSC indicates that the individual holds an officer rank in the Air Force.

What is the MOS for MP officer?

The 5803 MOS (Military Operating Specialty - USMC and US Army) is Military Police Officer in the Marine Corps. In the US Army the MP MOS of a regular officer is 31A, and a Warrant is 311A (CID Investigator). While in the Air Force the military police are Security Force (formerly Air Patrol and Security Patrol), the officer AFSC (Air Force Specialty Code-synonymous with MOS) is 31PX. The Navy appears to be a bit different. While I'm not able to locate a Navy Classification for officers who work law enforcement, the NEC (Navy Enlisted Classification) is 9545 Navy Law Enforcement Specialists.
