No, it's just up to you and what's comfortable, with this shoes you can also wear an usually banned color like white and light coloured socks. Though when in shorts, you better stick to ankle socks, with which apply the same color rule you follow with long pants, so you can still wear white socks unlike when you wear loafers.

Yes, as they ara a very light shoe, especially with shorts. It''s really your choice, though. I have a tip, with shorts, wear ankle socks so that you won't cover your legs, shorts are made to flaunt your legs, also avoid white or light colored socks.
Ok, sockless may be a sexier look, with shorts, but you can look very good even with socks at your feet, simply in a different way, just make sure your outfit is casual-chic , with a well fitting and untucked t-shirt, and a good pair of shorts (jeans, chinos, khakis etc.).

Ankle socks are cool and versatile they go with pretty much anything, with shorts they aquire even more glamour as everyone can see them and they let you show off yor legs, so you can go very creative with colors, just be careful when pairing them, for example avoid white socks with loafers or leather shoes, but they are ok with converse, sneakers or tennis shoes etc. Ankle socks with shorts are pretty much unisex, but women can always wear white socks even with loafers and can go as far as very dressy shoes.
