Hyrdrogen peroxide can be used to kill harmful bacteria. While there may be better options for treatment of a staph infection, hydrogen peroxide will not cause harm to a staph infection and could help aid in killing off harmful bacteria.

Can bacitracin zinc ointment work on herpes?

Bacitracin Zinc is an excellent antibiotic (it's actually a mix of polypeptide antibiotics) for topical infections caused by gram positive organisms - staph, strep, enterococcus, clostridium difficile, etc. It doesn't work well on gram negative bacteria ( eg: pseudomonas, e. coli, serratia, etc.) because it works to break down the cell wall surrounding gram positive bacteria (kind of like penicillins). Gram negative bacteria don't have that kind of external covering, and thus are not (usually) suseptable. Bacitracin is extremely nephrotoxic (kidneys), so it isn't used for internal infections (v. rarely given I.M. for pediatric staphylococcal pnumonia that won't respond to other antibiotics). Primary uses are for staph infections of the skin and eyes. There is a very low rate of bacterial resistance, even in MRSA strains, and it's not very likely to cause an allergic reaction. So, yes, the ointment should work v. well on a staph infection. For ocular staph infections, there are ophthalmic ointment formulations. Can pine essential oil be used as disinfectant?

When purchasing an essential oil of Pine the consumer should be aware that often the needles of trees of the Pinus family are lumped together commercially and are distilled together producing an essential oil that cannon be accurately labeled beyond the single word Pine. Pines are used primarily for respiratory infections and for massage blends to ease inflammation, water retention, gout and joint pain. Pine is not that effective against the growth of microorganisms like Staph, Strep, Klebs and others. For general use for cleaning around the house with soap and water, Pine is an acceptable addition if you like the smell and are interested in using essential oils and cleaning you space without unnecessary chemicals. www.eoils.net
