No, not everyone is required to go to school until they are 18. Each state has a different compulsory attendance age. In PA, I know that once a person is 17 they do not have to attend school, but once enrolled they need a guardian's permission to "drop out."

If you don't go to school you can't learn. If you don't know anything you can't get a job. If you can't get a job you'll live in a box behind Pet Smart and begging for money in the mall parking lot. With school you can drive a nice car, have a good place to live, and wear nice clothing. Which would you like?
