I got off lexapro and stopped cold turkey. Was prob one of the worst feeling ever!! I would seriously suggest to ween yourself off slowly to not experience these effects!
Good luck!
Hey everyone. I am 18 and have been taking 20 mg of Lexapro a day for over a year. Just recently I have decided to stop taking it. One day I just stopped completely and have been having some side effects and was wondering if anyone else has had these and how long they stick around before feeling better. I feel very light headed, I cant get to sleep but feel tired, I feel cold and have shivers, I feel kind of dreamy and spacy, my appetite is all messed up and I get really emotional over alot of things. Like even small things I will cry over. Anyways im trying to trudge through it and hoping they will just kind of go away. Even this morning I woke up and got out of bed and was so light headed that I pretty much blacked out and fell down onto my face and ended up with a pretty bad bloody nose. If anyone is having problems like this or no when the withdrawal symptoms go away that would be great. Thanks.
maybe. lexapro causes nausea. wellbutrin may help side effects. call your dr!
yes, lexapro can cause many abdominal symptoms: diarrhea, constipation, gas, general discomfort, etc. these are initial side effects and usually subside after about 2-6 weeks. and F.Y.I. I personally have experienced these side effects now that I am tapering off.
It normally takes lexapro 5 to 7 days to leave your system. Once that happens is when you may have side effects. If you do get side effects they can last for quite some time. You are normally soposed to wean of the medication under the care of your physician or psychiatrist. Consult with either if you start to feel troublesome side effects or are experiencing them now.
Yes, it can. You should not quit taking mental health drugs without the advice of a physician and cutting back slowly. Going off them cold turkey can cause serious side effects.

I am currently in the process of trying to get off Lexapro after 9 months of use. I have been trying to tamper off for the last 2 months...and still trying. While on Lexapro, I would sometimes go 2 or 3 days without taking one before experiencing any side effects.
not sure, but i suggest gradually weaning yourself off (i.e. half your dosage, take it every other day, etc.)
Symptoms can vary but for most people, Lexapro is fairly easy to stop taking. Talk to your doctor about tapering off the medication and you should be totally done within a month, maybe as short as 2 weeks. Many people experience only minor side-effects from discontinuing use of Lexapro but talk to your doctor or a pharmacist and make sure to taper off as stopping immediately can cause some side effects.
yes, you (obviously) know tachacardia is a symptom of lexapro. I (obviously) suggest you discontinue lexapro very (very) slowly to avoid the rapid pounding inside your chest......
I have been on Lexapro for about a month now. My weight is ballooning. I want to come off of it before the withdrawal get to bad. Does the time you are on lexapro coincide with the amount of withdrawl problems? The problem is, I feel great taking the lexapro, but, can't handle the side effect
No, they are similar enough. You should have no trouble taking zoloft your last day and starting lexapro the next. Side effects you can look for would be nausea, headache, and upset stomach. You might also have a little trouble sleeping for the first few days as your body adjusts to the switch.
I am not sure if its common - but ive been off lexapro for 4 days now - and its pretty much the only side effect i have - and its pretty constant.
