Homologous structures.
Homologous
When two animals have similar bone structures, they are said to be analogous. This is like a cat's foot and a whale's flipper.
Dogs and insects both have apendages used for moving around, observing this similarity people use the same name to deceive all of them, legs. However to be homologous they must have been inherited by a shares ancestor (common ancestor). Going back in time from the dogs this is an ancestral creature earlier than the earliest vertabrates, before the bony fishes. Considering this it is easy to imagine these distantly related organisms (dogs and fish) did not both inherit the characteristic of having legs from a common ancestor. Therefor legs of dogs and insects are analogous, not homologous.
A evolutionary form of a bird. It had wings and feathers but still probably acted like a dinosaur but im not sure.
In the diploid cell nucleus there are homologous chromosomes. During meiosis homologous chromosomes pair each other and bring about crossing over to inter change genetic material. This is how new combination of genes are created in the male and female gametes.
Yes. We have a common ancestor. Our arm bone is like the bats wing bone

homologous structures
Homologous structures.
Homologous structures are structures that are similar in related organisms because they were inherited from a common ancestor. These structures may or may not have the same function in the descendants. Figure below shows the hands of several different mammals. They all have the same basic pattern of bones. hope it helped
Why do scientists think related species have similar body structures and development patterns?
Bones of whale ancestors showed that whales had hip bones along with legs and hind feet.
