Although the bombardment of the Federal Fort Sumter was the initial place for the first armed conflict between the Confederacy and the Union, war had not yet been " made official ". With that said, there were minor conflicts after Fort Sumter that qualify as Civil War battles. Let it be known that the assault on Fort Sumter in the harbor of Charleston South Carolina was the beginning to the beginning of the war.
