Actually...that's not entirely true. The slaves wouldn't be the ones taking over. The biggest fear of the slave power was that the aristocracy of the southern plantation owners would slowly take over the democracy that had been developed in the North. Slavery was only part of the issue because the South was trying to spread its influence through the practice.

∙ 13y agoThe slave power conspiracy described the fear of northerners (factory owners, promoters of domestic industrialization) in regards to the spread of slavery. Slavery is a symbol of agrarian expansion (farming), thus posing a threat to the spread of industry.
