New pads will have to be burnished to fit the irregularities of the rotor - driving approx. 200 miles should "break pads in" and pedal should improve.
Soft brakes are caused by moisture or air in the brake lines. This reduces the pressure in side the system and greatly reduces its stopping power.

more than likely the brake system has air in it. bleed the system,
it is possible that your brake hoses are bad and soft not letting the brake fluid back out of your calipers
Brake pedal will be soft if the front pads are seized in the slides..and/or your rear brakes are dirty and out of adjustment. Pull up the park brake slowly and count the clicks it goes up More than 5 clicks...needs rear brake adjustment
There is still air in the system.
It's Possible that your Brake Fluid needs replaced. The Brake Fluid should be replace about every two years. Hope This Helps.
