what are some adaptations for the lapet-faced vulture
rough tongues to take the skin off animals and get to the flesh.
widley spaced feathers for energy condervation while gliding and flying.
hooked bill to cut into flesh. :)
The lappet-faced vulture has adapted to suit hunting needs. It has a rough tongue, so it can take the skin/fur off the animals to get to the flesh they intend to eat. They also have sharp talons and a hooked beak to rip its kill apart. They also have adapted to have a bald head and neck. This means, when eating their fresh kill, blood and other things don't get caught up in feathers. This saves a LOT of feather cleaning. Also, they have widely spaced feathers on their wings, which helps conserve energy when gliding/flying, which is very useful. All lappet faced vultures have also adapted to living in pairs, which helps them kill easier and quicker. Also, like the red-tailed hawk, in desperate situations, it will steal from other birds.
