No, a peacock is not unlucky. A peacock may be unlucky, because it may not be able to fly or get hit by a car! However peacocks are not related to bad luck in any superstitions that I am aware of.
I wouldn't think so. Like most birds, peacocks loose their tail feathers and other feathers at a certain time of year. They then regrow new feathers. So, most people I know collect the pretty tail feathers after they fall of. There is no reason to kill a peacock for feathers.
The male peacock will dance for the female peacock. The reason why is because the female peacock chooses who it mates with so the male peacock has to do what it can to impress and gain favor with the female peacock.

Female peacocks have feathers, too - its just that the males have the most brilliantly colored. Males only have the beautiful feathers because they are used to attract females. Since females do not need to attract males, they do not need brilliantly colored feathers.
Peacocks are the ones with the brilliant blue coloring and spread their tails (they're the ones that you think of when you hear "peacock"). Peahens are the females and they are about the same body size, but their feathers are mostly grey and black (depending on the breed also) They do not have the long tail feathers.
