Lithium is a mood stabilizer usually used in the treatment of patients with bi polar disorder and Adderall is a medication used for ADHD and Narcolepsy since it is a amphetamine which is a stimulate. The anorectic and stimulatory effects of amphetamines may be inhibited by lithium carbonate meaning that the adderall will not absorb properly into your system and could cause your levels of the amphetamine (Adderall) to be to unpredictable.
These two medications together are highly ill advised due to the drug interactions between the two. The two medications together would actually cause a chemical war going on inside of your body and you could experience some pretty horrifying side effects. If you are needing to be treated with both a mood stabilizer and a stimulant I would highly recommend speaking to your doctor about possibly changing one of the medications or both. There are many different types of medications out there that have less side effects and less interactions then these two together.

∙ 14y agoSo long as your doctor is aware of all the medication and has OK'ed them with your personal history, you can. Remember that your mood disorder makes you more likely to become addicted to things though. You need to be very careful with drugs like Adderall and Xanax.
Also, Xanax only covers up your symptoms - it's not helping you to cure anything. I urge you to find a good therapist who will teach you healthy skills for coping with anxiety and stress. Then, you can get rid of all the sedatives and get back to living again!
