Triceps brachii
Elbow flexion is due to the contraction of the biceps brachii, the prime mover. The triceps brachii extends as the biceps brachii contracts and therefore is the antagonist muscle.
The triceps brachii is the antagonist to elbow flexion. The main movement of the triceps is extension of the elbow. When you perform elbow flexion, the triceps brachii opposes the action of the biceps brachii. This is done to help with muscle control.

The primary function ofthe biceps brachi is suppination of the forarm, only when the forearm is suppinated does the biceps brachi assist brachialis in flexion of the elbow. The Triceps brachi is the only significant extensor of the elbow joint.
Several muscles are used. Biceps brachii for elbow flexion, triceps brachii for elbow extension. Trapezius to raise arm. Deltoid abducts the arm. The pectoralis major allows internal rotation, adduction, and flexion of the arm. The pronator quadratus, pronator teres and supinator all arm forearm muscles that move the wrist. The brachioradialis, brachialis and aconeus are also used.
