In the Monkey's Paw, the author matches the mood with the weather outside perfectly. At the end, it is stormy outside and dark and gloomy. So is the story. He wished for hi son to come back and he did but not in the way they wanted him to. He came back a monster.

In "The Monkey's Paw," the author contrasts the cozy and warm atmosphere inside the house with the gloomy and foreboding weather outside. This contrast creates a sense of tension and sets the stage for the tragic events that unfold after the family makes their wishes on the monkey's paw.
