Plants need Sunlights, soil, and water maybe oxygen to live.

The right answer would be plants need Sunlight nutrients water and air. The reason i did not say soil is because i do auqaponics which does not use soil it only has water and fish, that can be harvested to eat. The plants roots are hanging in water with no soil and all they need is a constant flow of water and air. The water has fish feces and other things from the fish. The water is naturally filtered by the plants so the water should be very clean and the fish should most likely eat some of the roots of your plants but the plants still grow.

Sunlight, carbon dioxide, and water are basic requirements of all plants, and other nutrients most commonly from soil (but some aquatic plants can absorb their nutrients from the water they float in without needing to actually grow roots in soil). Plants also have temperature and acidity range requirements; tropical plants tend to be destroyed in hard freezes, and soil becoming too acidic or alkaline for a plant will also kill a plant.
