The body needed to be able to reach the place of the God in heaven, to be as near actual life as possible, and to enter that heaven for the greater life. Some had chariots in the burial chamber with them, presumably to ride in the chariots once they enter heaven, or perhaps to use the chariots to get to that heaven.
