Simple ratio among the combining ions (emperical formula)

I'm not sure what you mean by "purely covalent", since the ionic-vs-covalent distinction is expressed in terms of electronegativity, which can take a range of values (higher values = more ionic). CO is very much a covalent compound though.
im guessing covalent compound It is inadequate to discuss about a telephone in terms of ionic and covalent compounds. But, plastics are covalent compounds.
covalent compounds --------- It is inadequate to discuss about a telephone in terms of ionic and covalent compounds.
Sodium chloride is an ionic compound; the term "molecule" is not adequate because NaCl form large lattices.
formula units
The term formula mass is generally defined as the mass of a unit cell in an ionic compound. Molecular compounds are just defined in terms of molecular mass.

Sodium chloride is an inorganic compound, an ionic salt, a chloride, a soluble compound etc.
For an ionic compound, the name of the positive ion comes first, followed by the name of the negative ion. It also tells the ratio of the atoms and tells what atoms make up the compound.they describe the type and number of atoms in a molecule of the compound

i=prt FACT: If an annual interest rate is given, time in the simple interest formula must be expressed in terms of years.
In terms of scientific matter the formula for Fluoric acid is HFO2. Though it is unlikely that such a compound exists.
