Independent variable. The dependent variable is the one that is affected by the independent variable, for example-

y=2x+2

This is the equation of a line. X is deliberately changed to find y hence - y is the dependent variable and x is the independent variable.

The single variable that is deliberately changed in the experiment is called the manipulated variable. The factor that is affected by the manipulated variable is called the responding variable.

How many variables are changed in a experiment?

Controlling for a variable is the act of deliberately varying the experimental conditions in order to take a single variable into account in the prediction of the outcome variable. Controlling tends to reduce the experimental error. A control is something that does not change in the experiment.

How many variables are changed in a controlled experiment?

The single factor that is changed in an experiment is the?

the dependent variable is the only thing that changes in an experiment

What is the single factor that is changed in an experiment?

the independent variable is the factor of an experiment that is altered in an attempt to understand its effects on the experiment's subject

The single factor that is altered in an experiment is the?

a factor that changes in an experiment from manipulation of the independent variable is the?

How many variables should you have when you start an experiment?

An experiment involves three types of variable. The independent variable is the one you are investigating. It is the one which you deliberately vary in the experiment. You should only have one independent variable. The dependent variable is the variable which you measure to get your results. Often there is only a single dependent variable but there can be more. All other variables must be controlled ie kept constant so they do not change the result. There are usually many control variables in an experiment.

How many variables do you need in a science experiment?

Ideally, an experiment should test only one variable (the independent variable) at a time. If you have two or more variables changing at the same time you have no way of knowing which variable is causing your results.

List three things that you can control and or measure in this experiment in chemistry lab?

There are more than three possible controls for any experiment, as a control is just a variable that something is being tested against and compared to. Three would include temperature, color, or weight - all things that may be easily controlled among a group of test subjects.

A controlled experiment is designed to test a single factor called a?

Variable

What are the 3 scientific variables?

The Independent Variable : It is the ONE thing you plan to be different in the experiment. You decide on what is going to be different BEFORE doing the experiment. Dependent Variable or Outcome Variable : It is the result you compare of measure in the experiment. Controlled Variable : This is the part of the experiment that you DO NOT CHANGE. This is what STAYS THE SAME.

Single variable in the scientific method?

the factor in an experiment that is missing the variable but is the same as other facotors in every other way.
